The roaring 20’s started a change in American history that
will be known forever. Young women were becoming more sexual, there was a huge advancement
in American industry with the automobile and the assembly line and the
entertainment industry boomed. Women were becoming more promiscuous staying out
at all hours of the night dating without adult supervision and flapper girls
were role models to young women. Automobiles gave Americans many freedoms. They
could go pretty much anywhere and dating became more private. Smaller towns turned to ruin as people were
able to drive through to go to larger cities with more attractions and better
shopping centers. Assembly lines made industrial manufacturing more efficient
and some factory workers like those who worked for Ford got paid more. Movies, magazines,
theaters and radios became more popular as forms of entertainment gave birth to
celebrities and more explicit forms of advertisement. The 1920s were most definitely
a time of change in America which helped lead to the technology, entertainment,
values and principles that we carry with us today.

How do you feel about the change in sexuality that occurred in
the 1920’s?
1. I think the most significant change in the 1920's was the new portrayal of women. Before that time women were expected to be traditional and conservative as possible. When the 1920's came around barriers were broken, women now had the right to vote and and recognized their place in politics, jobs were becoming available as well, and having the opportunity to participate in the work force made these women feel more powerful. Also there were women becoming more college educated. Women were also comfortable with their sexuality and weren't afraid to say so.
ReplyDelete2. I feel the sexuality change in the 1920's was very surprising since the women from that era compared to the generation before them were so different,in my opinion women in the 1920's are similar to women today especially when referring to sexuality.
